Examples of Mosaics

As a traditional decorative art, mosaic involves forming a pattern or image by bringing together small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. Mosaics combine beauty with utility: a lasting surface that tells a story or entices the eye.

In mathematics, MOSAICs can be an opportunity to tell a story in a new, fresh way by bringing together materials --- concepts, techniques, technology --- that have previously been treated as separate and unrelated.

Over the course of the Project, we'll be developing and publishing dozens of curricular mosaics. To start, here are a couple in outline:
